News and Updates

Article Date: 17.01.2025

Exactly 2 years since the last website news update, and just in time for the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, let's talk about the state of the website!

Not really show to what extent people really follow this website or how much it's worth yapping about the progress of the website, but I figure I'll write this partially for myself, to set some goals for the next few years for where I want the website to be. I'll start with the major piece of news that motivated me to write this update in the first place.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal

Exciting stuff, right? Waiting for official info to drop for this thing was sorta painful. We all knew about the system thanks to leakers way before Nintendo decided to pipe up, so it was all a long waiting game for something to be said. Well, they finally revealed it yesterday, and really didn't really show anything that the leakers hadn't already mentioned. The closest we got to any new information was the Untitled Mario Kart Game shown, and even then, leakers had suggested that that was a priority title for the console.

So what does the Switch 2 mean for this website? Well, I've already started on a Switch 2 section with a nice little Switch 2 icon to decorate it. But aside from that, what I really want to do this year is start doing regular reviews for Switch 2 games once the console has released. I bought almost every Switch game on release and had quite a bit of fun giving my friends and online randoms recommendations and opinions based on what I had bought. And since I was playing through these games fully, people could count on those recommendations. I want to extend that service to the visitors of my website and give this website some extra usage.

Unfinished Business

So just about the only thing that I didn't get done in the four years since I opened this website is doing individual pages for each game. Considering that Nintendo has published at least 1800 games by my count, that'd definitely take a while. I've decided to reduce this down to just "pages for Nintendo franchises". The Nintendo Franchises index has been finished for a while, I've started creating basic pages for individual Nintendo Franchises. A good example of this is the page I did on Actionloop/Magnetica, which can be viewed here. I've only done a few of these so far, so my short-term goal is to get all these pages done.

After that, I'd essentially been done with what I initially set out to do. Only took 4 years! I need to remove the "soon-to-be biggest Nintendo website" ever tagline though, haha. I definitely bit off more than I could chew, and now that tagline is stuck on every page of the website. I'm thinking of adding an individual tagline to each page, as a fun way to add some jokes, shout-outs and easter eggs. Similar to the randomised tagline on Minecraft's title screen.

I apparently had a lot less to say than I thought, but that's probably good, I don't want to send people to sleep here. To the people that have been visiting this site for the last four years, thanks a bunch! I hope that my website continues to educate people on Nintendo hardware and history. Here's to 2025! Happy New Year everyone!
