Portable console released in 2004

This dual-screen console opened up new, innovative ways to play games; mainly with touch-based control, but also in other ways, such as interacting with its microphone. A later model, the DSi, would introduce a camera and an online download service to the console.

Nintendo DSi XL

The Nintendo DSi XL was a much larger model of the original DSi, with all the same features. The main difference is that the DSi XL boasts a 4.2 inch screen size, which is roughly double the size of the original DS and DS Lite's screen size. Generally marketed towards much older people with sight issues for use with mature games of the "Touch Generations" series, such as "Cooking Guide" and "100 Classic Books". To suit the more mature market focus, the DSi XL was initially launched with sleek "wine red" and "dark brown" colours, as well as a "natural white" colour that closely resembles the DS Lite and DSi.

UTL-001(-01)
Often referred to as "Panda" units, Nintendo DSi XL consoles with the code UTL-001(-01) are development consoles which are used for testing games in a standard player environment. These consoles include menus for debugging and running code, but still play regular DS software, so it's still usable as a standard console.

Nintendo DSi XL Stylus

The Nintendo DSi stylus is 96mm long, making it slightly longer than the standard DSi stylus, and can be stored in the main body when not in use. The stylus comes included with the console, but can be bought separately in case the owner loses it.

Nintendo DSi XL Large Stylus

The Nintendo DSi XL also comes packaged with a much thicker stylus, which measures at 129mm long, which is much easier to hold, but cannot be stored in the console when not being used. It does have a hole at the top, allowing it to be tied to the console using a string, if necessary. The DSi XL large stylus also has a blue and white variant that comes packaged with the "Wii U GamePad Accessory Set".
