Hybrid console released in 2017

This console is highly versatile, allowing you to play it on the run or sitting at your TV. It's also easy to bring others into games too with its shareable screen and controllers.

Nintendo Switch


The Nintendo Switch is designed as a games console that can be played at home or on the move, with the main body being a screen with rails on either side. The rails allow for different controllers to be connected, such as the Joy-Con and legacy controllers. This console can also be connected to a dock, which will allow for games to be played on a TV display while the console is being charged.

A variation of the Nintendo Switch was released in late 2019 with an improved battery, sometimes referred to as the Mariko variant.

HAC-007

Nintendo Switch Dock

The dock comes included with the main console. The main features of the dock include video output to a TV or monitor (up to 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second) and charging the main console and any attached Joy-Cons. The dock has three USB terminals (two on the side, one inside the back), allowing you to connect peripherals such as Pro Controllers and Joy-Con Charging Grips. By connecting and disconnecting the main console and dock, it is possible to seamlessly switch between different methods of play. The dock is powered by a USB-C AC adapter.

Game Cartridge

The Switch game cartridges are black and are slightly smaller than the DS and 3DS cartridges. The cartridges are coated in denatonium benzoate, which provides a harmless, but disgusting acidic taste, to deter children from accidentally ingesting them. It's important to note that save data is stored on the main console, not on the cartridge, due to the implementation of the different user profiles on the Switch.

Cartridge Case

The cases that the game cartridges come in. They're very slim and are taller than most handheld console boxes, but smaller than most home console game cases. These cases may occasionally have codes inside for things such as Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions.

USB Charging Cable


This USB charging cable has a USB-C connector. It is included with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, the Joy-Con charging grip and the SNES, N64 and Sega NSO controllers. A considerably shorter version of the cable also exists and was included with the Poke Ball Plus and the Mario Kart Live remote-control karts.

Joy-Con Grip

The Joy-Con grip is a controller-shaped grip that allows for a pair of Joy-Cons to be mounted, for a more traditional gaming experience. The Joy-Con grip is included with the main console.

Joy-Con Charging Grip

The Joy-Con charging grip is another controller-shaped grip that allows for a pair of Joy-Cons to be mounted. This grip, however, has a USB-C port on the top, allowing you to charge the Joy-Cons while you play. This Joy-Con grip is sold separately.

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

A much more traditional controller for the Switch, which connects via Bluetooth; complete with HD rumble and amiibo compatibility. It charges via the USB-C charging cable, and it shares the same battery pack (CTR-003) as the original Nintendo 3DS.

An adjustable strap that attaches to the Joy-Con. A strap is included with each Joy-Con (L) / (R). Different colours are sold to match the colours of the various Joy-Con.

Joy-Con Wheel

Similar to the Wii Wheel, the Joy-Con Wheel allows you to insert a Joy-Con controller to imitate using a steering wheel for racing games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This peripheral was released on April 28, 2017, as a set of two.

A protective screen cover for the Switch, to prevent the screen from getting scratched. It comes included with the Nintendo Switch carrying case.

When attached to a Joy-Con, the Joy-Con can be charged by using AA batteries. It also has a Joy-Con strap and adds a lot of girth to the Joy-Con, making them much easier to hold. Released on June 16, 2017.

A carrying case that can store the Nintendo Switch and five Switch games and other small accessories in a pouch. The insides are also designed to fold out, so that it can hold the Switch upright with a small hole for ventilation.

Ring-Con


The Ring-Con is a large plastic ring, with a slot for the right Joy-Con to be attached. The Joy-Con detects the movement of the Ring-Con, and the stress sensors inside the Ring-Con detects how much the ring is being squeezed and stretched. Both of these systems allow players to move and manipulate the Ring-Con to perform various exercises, in combination with the Ring-Con's bundled game, "Ring Fit Adventure".

Leg-Strap


The Leg Strap, bundled with "Ring Fit Adventure" is a piece of fabric that attaches to the player's thigh using Velcro, which has a small net for holding the left Joy-Con. This Joy-Con senses the movement of the player's leg, allowing the player to perform various leg exercises in "Ring Fit Adventure".

Poké Ball Plus

A Poké Ball-styled controller that was released with "Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu / Let's Go! Eevee". The controller contains a gyro sensor and accelerometer, so players can feel like they're throwing a real Poké Ball. Using this controller, you can gain experience for your Pokémon by transferring a Pokémon captured in Let's Go! to it. To begin with, the Poké Ball Plus contains the mythical Pokémon, Mew. It can also be used with the Pokémon GO peripheral, the “Pokémon GO Plus”.

Steelbook Cartridge Case

A metal case that can be used to hold a game cartridge. They're the same size as standard cartridge cases, but are often included as pre-order or special edition bonuses as a more decorative and deluxe cartridge case.

There's a variation of the steelbook cartridge case that has two cartridge slots instead of just one. This has been used for dual releases, such as Pokémon Sword/Shield and the Japanese release of Bayonetta 1 and 2 on Switch.

Mario Kart Live Kart


The Kart peripheral is a car toy of Mario or Luigi driving a kart, meant to resemble the karts from the "Mario Kart" series, which can be controlled using the Nintendo Switch. The Kart features a camera above Mario/Luigi's head, to view real life settings which can be used to make racing tracks in the game "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit". The Kart has a motion sensor that detects when the Kart collides with an object, and USB-C port to charge the battery.

The Gates included with "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit" are cardboard gates; the player must drive through all four gates to create a custom racing track. The different courses that can be picked in "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit" cause different features to appear at each gate. For example, Gate 2 may have item boxes in one course or a stage hazard in another course.

A stylus that can be used with Nintendo Switch. So far, it has only been distributed as a pre-order bonus of “Super Mario Maker 2”.

Nintendo Switch Stylus (Brain Training)

A stylus that can be used with Nintendo Switch. This stylus will be packaged with "Brain Training for Switch" and sold separately later in 2019. The tip of the stylus appears to use a different material from the "Super Mario Maker 2" stylus.

A wireless controller made to be used with the “Super Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Switch Online” app. Only players with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can purchase this controller, with a limit of four per person at the MyNintendo store (any region). NSO Nintendo 64 Controller


A wireless controller made to be used with the “Nintendo 64 Nintendo Switch Online” app. Only players with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can purchase this controller. It can also be used with the Nintendo Switch Lite, and charges via a USB-C cable. Unlike the other Nintendo Switch Online replica controllers, the Nintendo 64 Controller actually has all of the same buttons as a standard Switch controller, with the Capture, Home and ZR buttons all being placed at the top of the controller. Interestingly, this controller has built-in rumble, using the same type of old rumble motor that can be found in the original N64 Rumble Pak, built into where the N64 Rumble Pak would usually be inserted.

Mario Kart Live Arrow Markers


The Arrow Markers included with "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit"  are cardboard signs, used to indicate the direction the racing track is heading. Its purpose in-game is purely cosmetic; the arrows will appear neon and pop-out.

NSO Sega Genesis Controller


A wireless controller made to be used with the “Sega Genesis Nintendo Switch Online” app. Only players with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can purchase this controller, with a limit of four per person at the MyNintendo store in the US and Europe. It can also be used with the Nintendo Switch Lite, and charges via a USB-C cable. Due to the unusual non-Nintendo button layout, the "C" button and the "Mode" button actually count as the "R" and "ZR" buttons, respectively. Similar to the NSO N64 Controller, the Nintendo Switch's "capture" and "home" buttons have been added to the top of the controller.

NSO Sega Mega Drive 6-Button Controller


A wireless controller made to be used with the “Sega Mega Drive Nintendo Switch Online” app. Only players with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can purchase this controller, with a limit of four per person at the MyNintendo store in Japan. It can also be used with the Nintendo Switch Lite, and charges via a USB-C cable. Despite the Sega Mega Drive being the Japanese equivalent of the Sega Genesis, this controller differs by a lot by having an "X", "Y" and "Z" button, totalling six face buttons, though it has the same additions: the Nintendo Switch's "capture" and "home" buttons placed at the top.

“Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit” was released on April 20, 2018. The Variety Kit includes five types of Toy-Cons can be created: an RC car, a fishing rod, a house, a motorcycle, and a piano.  On June 26, 2018, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" was updated to become compatible with the motorcycle Toy-Con.

It's been noted that this game has content that looks very similar to "Project Giant Robot", an unreleased game that was showcased at E3 2014.

On September 19, 2018, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" was updated to become compatible with the steering wheel and accelerator pedal Toy-Con.

Toy-Con 04: VR Kit


“Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit” was released on April 12, 2019. All the games in this software are VR-compatible, and the tool “Toy-Con Garage VR” can be used to create VR games. This package was sold as a standard set with all six Toy-Con, and as a "starter set" that includes two Toy-Con; "expansion sets" can be bought to obtain the other four Toy-Con. The standard set includes the VR Goggles, the Camera, the Blaster, the Elephant, the Bird and the Wind Pedal Toy-Con. The starter set only has the VR Goggles + Blaster Toy-Con, with the expansion sets adding the Camera + Elephant Toy-Con and the Bird + Wind Pedal Toy-Con. From April 26, 2019, a mode in "Super Mario Odyssey" and the entire of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" are compatible with the VR Goggles Toy-Con.

A convenient box made of cardboard that can store Nintendo Labo kits. Due to the large size of the Labo Toy-Con, this storage box can be used to neatly tidy Toy-Con away. All four Toy-Con kits fit in a Labo Storage Box, but only one kit per box.
