Doshin the Giant


Simulation series started in 1999


A series created by little-known former game developer Kazutoshi Iida, who now works as a Professor of Film at Ritsumeikan University. The Doshin the Giant series is an early 3D game with terrain manipulation where you must play as Doshin the Giant and fulfill requests for villagers for them to make structures in your honour.

In this game, the yellow giant Doshin must figure out the wants of the villagers living on the various tropical islands of his world. Doshin grows larger by gaining love from the villagers he assists, or by gaining hate from the villagers he chooses to torment.

A supplementary game in which you play the first "Kyojin no Doshin" according to the instructions of the Queen Companion to help free the now-captured Doshin. This is game is played by constantly swapping this game's disc with the original game's disc, and vice versa, so that game progress can be read between the two discs.

A port of the original 64DD game. Not only have the graphics been improved, but changes have been made to make the game easier, such as allowing Doshin's spawn point to be moved, and giving Jashin wings so that he can jump farther. This game also introduces female islanders that need to be paired with male islanders to populate villages, whereas islanders were originally all male and villages could repopulate from a single islander.
